Ingredients:
1.5 kg mutton, cut into pieces
2 large turnips, peeled and diced
1 large onion, chopped
3-4 tomatoes, chopped
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, minced
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil
1-2 green chilies, chopped (optional)
Fresh coriander, chopped, for garnishing
Instructions:
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook until softened and translucent.
Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies (if using) and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the mutton and cook until browned on all sides.
Add the tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
Stir in the coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt.
Add the diced turnips and enough water to just cover the meat and vegetables.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the mutton is tender and the gravy has thickened.
Garnish with chopped fresh coriander and serve with rice or roti.
Tips:
For a richer flavor, you can use bone-in mutton.
If you don't have green chilies, you can add 1 teaspoon of red chili powder to the gravy.
You can also add other vegetables to the curry, such as potatoes, carrots, or peas.
