Delicious Sehri Recipe: Chicken Bhindi for Ramadan 🌙
Ingredients:
500g chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
250g fresh okra (bhindi), washed and sliced
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
3-4 green chilies, slit
2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
Salt to taste
Cooking oil
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat a few tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Once the onions are golden brown, add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Now, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute to let the spices release their flavors.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and mix them with the masala. Cook until the chicken is partially cooked.
- Once the chicken is partially cooked, add the sliced okra (bhindi) to the pan. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients.
- Cover the pan and let the chicken and okra cook together until they are tender and fully cooked, stirring occasionally. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes on medium-low heat.
- Once the chicken and okra are cooked through, sprinkle garam masala over the dish and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
- Serve hot with roti or paratha for a wholesome and delicious Sehri meal during Ramadan.
