Irresistible Ramadan Special: Savory Potato Balls ππ
Ingredients:
4 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
Cooking oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Add cumin seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the potato mixture. Blend all the ingredients thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of spices.
- Shape the potato mixture into small, round balls. If the mixture is too sticky, you can slightly grease your hands with oil to make shaping easier.
- Prepare three separate bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Roll each potato ball in the flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each ball is evenly coated.
- Heat cooking oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the coated potato balls into the oil.
- Fry the potato balls in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to remove the balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the savory potato balls hot with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
Conclusion:
These savory potato balls are a delightful addition to your Iftar table during Ramadan. They are easy to make, bursting with flavor, and sure to be loved by everyone. Whether you serve them as a snack or a side dish, these crispy, golden bites are perfect for satisfying your cravings after a long day of fasting. Enjoy the comforting taste of homemade goodness with every bite this Ramadan!
