Ingredients:

For the Shawarma Marinade:

500g chicken breast or thigh, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon ground turmeric

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Yogurt Sauce:

1 cup Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons tahini

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 garlic cloves, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Spicy Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

For the Wrap:

Pita bread or flatbreads

Sliced tomatoes

Sliced cucumbers

Sliced red onions

Shredded lettuce

Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Marinade:

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.

Add the thinly sliced chicken to the bowl and toss to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

2. Cook the Chicken:

Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into thin strips.

3. Prepare the Sauces:

For the yogurt sauce, mix Greek yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl until well combined.

For the spicy sauce, mix mayonnaise, hot sauce, paprika, and garlic powder in a separate bowl.

4. Assemble the Shawarma Wraps:

Warm the pita bread or flatbreads in a skillet or microwave.

Spread a generous amount of yogurt sauce and spicy sauce on the bread.

Layer the sliced chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, shredded lettuce, and chopped parsley.

Drizzle more of the sauces on top if desired.

Roll up the pita bread tightly to form a wrap. If needed, secure with a toothpick.

5. Serve:

Serve the spicy shawarma wraps immediately while warm, with extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Conclusion:

This Spicy Shawarma recipe is a fantastic addition to your Ramadan Iftar menu. The combination of tender, flavorful chicken with fresh vegetables and zesty sauces wrapped in warm pita bread is a treat for the senses.
